My Interview with Author Posey Parks


When did you first realize you wanted to become a Writer/author?

I realized I had quite the imagination when I was twelve. At the age of 16 I entered my first writing contest; I won. At 18 I started writing Samantha Gramm story but I never finished not sure if I will ever release that book.

Where do you get your ideas for your book?

I’ll began thinking about the main character then the story starts to run like a movie in my head so I have to write it immediately. Next thing I know I’m at 70k words.

What kind of things do you enjoy when not writing?

Traveling, Going to the movies, watching TV, or hanging out with my family and friends.

How many books have you written? 

Six

Which is your favorite?

Samantha Posey Love Unfolded because there are so many twist and turns in the story line makes for a suspenseful read.

Do you have any suggestions to help others who have a passion for writing?

Don’t stop. Always carve out time for your passion.

What do you think makes a great story?

Interesting characters, the setting and a compelling story line.

Which Writer/Authors inspire you?

Terry McMillian, Sister Souljah, and DJ Parker.

What are you working on at the moment?

Relentless Chase is my next new release

What genre are your books?

Contemporary Romance/Erotica/Interracial Romance/BWWM/Suspense Romance

What drew you to the genre you write?

I wanted to show that sometimes you have to work harder than some to make relationships work. When a Black woman and a white man come together they are some times faced with racism and I wanted to touch on those issues.

Which Actor/Actress would you like to see portraying the lead character from your most recent book?

Jensen Ackles wold me my lead character in Samantha Posey Love Unfolded series

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Part-time

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Sometimes making the right words work or ending a story.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded Writer’s block?

Taking a break, going to watch a movie, or a good TV show sometimes helps to restart the creative juices.

Do you read much, and if so who are your favorite Authors or genres?

I try to read every time I get the chance. My favorite authors are: 
Amarie Avant, Theresa Hodges, S.K. Lessly, and DJ Parker.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

Music plays a big part of my writing process. I listen to R&B, Rap, Country and Alternative. The music sometimes helps to set chapters in the book.
